Families that Inspire: A New Year Begins for the Class Parents
On 4 October, the school held the first session of the year for the Matrimonios Encargados de Curso (MECs) — Class Parents — a morning that reminded us of the essential role families play as the main protagonists of Alegra’s educational mission.
The day began with a welcome message from the Headmistress, Marta Jiménez de los Galanes, who expressed her gratitude for the quiet yet constant dedication of all the MECs. “You are a fundamental pillar,” she said, “because you make Alegra more than just a school: you make it a community where everyone matters and where we grow together.”

Referring to this year’s motto, “Give your best. Go beyond!”, she encouraged everyone to live this mission from their own personal reality — not from perfectionism — and to take that extra step beyond duty: not just to do, but to place one’s talents at the service of others.
The main talk was delivered by Camino González, mother of a family, holder of a Master’s in Marriage and Family Studies, and expert in affectivity and sexuality. Under the title “MECs: Leadership that Inspires Families”, she reminded attendees that true leadership does not seek to shine, but to give light so that others may shine. A leadership that unites, listens, welcomes, and accompanies.
“You were not chosen by chance,” she told them, inviting the couples to rediscover the deeper “why” behind their mission as MECs. “A new family can feel part of the school thanks to you. You are the first smile, the bridge that connects.” She encouraged them to live this role not merely as an organisational task, but as an opportunity to build community, inspire participation, and embody Alegra’s educational project from within.
After the talk, APA President Antonio Tuñón took the floor to introduce the APA team and share the driving purpose of their work: to promote a network of active, generous, and engaged families within school life. Each member briefly presented the areas they will lead this year:
- Javier Martínez, Treasurer
- Marta Martín Maroto, responsible for the Christmas Raffle and the APA Charity Dinner
- Antonio López and Rodrigo Lago, coordinators of family plans and activities
- Íñigo Zaldívar, responsible for Parent Formation, the End-of-Year Party, and the Helping Fathers programme
- Mª Ángeles Oriol, in charge of Family Volunteering, Second-hand Uniforms, and the Helping Mothers programme
All of them offered their support and collaboration to accompany the MECs in their mission of building bridges, fostering community, and strengthening the sense of belonging among all families.

The morning concluded with a shared aperitif, where MEC couples had the chance to get to know each other better and strengthen the bonds that make this group a true driving force of family life within the school.
Thank you, always, for your commitment and generosity.

🗓️ We’ll see you again on the 14th of March for the next session. See you soon!
