Houses, Sport and Team Spirit: Prep School’s End-of-Year Celebration

The year came to a close in Prep School with one of the most cherished British school traditions: the final Assembly of the year. Pupils and teachers came together to celebrate achievements, recognise a year of hard work and announce this year’s winning Houses.

Highlights from Juniors’ Sports Day

The celebration followed just a few days after another major event in the Prep School calendar: Juniors’ Sports Day, when pupils represented their Houses in a variety of sporting events.

Beyond the results, it was an opportunity to demonstrate sportsmanship, perseverance and team spirit, cheering on their fellow pupils and enjoying a morning of sport in true British style.

This year’s winning House at Sports Day was Wolves, whose commitment and performance stood out across the different events.

Houses at the Heart of School Life

Assemblies are part of everyday life in British schools and are much more than school gatherings. They offer a space to share achievements, reinforce values and strengthen a sense of belonging beyond one’s own class. At Alegra, every pupil belongs from her earliest years to a House — Lions, Wolves, Horses or Elephants — that stays with her throughout her time at school.

Throughout the year, pupils earn points for their Houses in many ways: through academic effort, acts of service, their attitude towards others, charitable initiatives and participation in school activities. The House System, one of the most distinctive traditions of British education, fosters leadership, responsibility and teamwork beyond the classroom.

Lions Wins the House Cup for 2025–2026

The winning House in the annual championship was announced during the final Assembly. After months of effort and accumulating points, this year’s trophy went to Lions, which finished at the top of the overall standings.

Much More Than a Competition

Two different winners, but one shared message: at Alegra, the Houses help pupils discover that individual achievements matter, while commitment, perseverance and working towards a common goal leave an even deeper mark.
