Alegra celebrates 15 years looking to the future
Last Friday, 11 September, Alegra celebrated its 15th anniversary with a very special day involving the whole school. Fifteen years of stories, learning, friendships and shared growth that we wanted to celebrate together with gratitude.
From the beginning of the day, pupils, teachers and members of staff were invited to write their congratulations and memories on a large anniversary card. A special breakfast marked the start of a day filled with thoughtful gestures reminding us that this was no ordinary occasion: Alegra was celebrating its birthday.
Year 1 and Year 2 pupils received a commemorative kite to take home and decorate with their families. It was a keepsake linked to this year’s visual theme and our motto, Greater Every Day: an invitation to keep growing, dreaming and always aspiring to reach higher.
The celebrations continued in the dining hall, which was decorated with balloons for the occasion. After grace, our youngest pupils sang Happy Birthday to Alegra, filling this everyday moment with joy and a true family spirit.
“Thank you, forgive me and help me more”
In the afternoon, all pupils, from Year 1 to DP2, gathered on the playing fields for the main anniversary celebration. Our Head, Cristina Esparch, reflected on the journey so far, thanked everyone who has played a part in these 15 years and encouraged us to look to the future with hope, recalling the words of Blessed Álvaro del Portillo: “Thank you, forgive me and help me more.”
This was followed by one of the most meaningful moments of the day: a floral offering to Our Lady of Alegra, on the eve of the Feast of the Holy Name of Mary, in thanksgiving for the school’s first 15 years.
A very special human “15”
Finally, to create a lasting memory for the years ahead, our MYP students formed an enormous human number 15 on the playing fields.
Within the formation, fifteen balloons represented each of the years in Alegra’s journey. The image captured what Alegra is all about: a community in which every person has an important place and helps to build a shared project.
Thank you to everyone who has been, and continues to be, part of this story. We celebrate our first 15 years with gratitude for the journey so far and with the excitement of continuing to grow together, a little more each day.
