Dual Champions: Golf and Hockey
Thursday 27th of May, two inter-school tournaments simultaneously: grass Hockey at the “Federación de Hockey en Madrid” and Golf at the Negralejo Club, organized by the “Federación de Golf”. This is the first time that Alegra attends these tournaments and wins both!
- Hockey Team: champion!
- Golf Team: Third Place. María Ortego was awarded individual and partner champion.
We can’t be prouder of our students, and also we’d like to make a special mention to their PE teacher (MYP), Elsa Alonso, for her commitment and motivation. Special recognition is due to Faina Ximénez de Embún the student that has dedicated her break time in the school to train the Hockey team.
Golf and hockey facilities at Alegra
Since the beginning of March, Alegra has new sports facilities: a Green for Golf with an approach zone, and a grass track to use as hockey and football courts.
Besides practicing both sports during the PE classes, Alegra has included both sports in its offer of extracurricular activities for students:
Hockey: From Year 3 onwards. Classes are imparted by Candela Santa Cruz, a federated player in the Spanish Hockey Team.
Golf: From Year 1 onwards, and the staff classes. The short game at the putting green, and the long game at the tee line of the school. Classes are imparted by Sergio Matos of the Federación de Golf de Madrid.
