We recorded Alegra’s hymn in the studio
The conductor Iñigo Pirfano leads the Alegra choir in the studio recording of the school anthem. The more than 50 students of the choir had the opportunity to see first-hand what the professional recording process is like.
The door handle of the Metropol Studios is the neck of an electric guitar. To get to the recording room you have to pass through a corridor full of musical “jewels”: old gramophones and pianos, Marshall loudspeakers, an exhibition of drum kits… here the sound comes through your eyes.
Alegra’s students passed by, looking at everything in amazement: the instruments, the mixing room, the recording room and finally the conductor, Íñigo Pirfano, who was in charge of directing them. “It has been a challenge, it is the first time I have conducted a children’s choir. The pupils have made up for their lack of professional experience with the enormous enthusiasm they have shown”, comments Íñigo Pirfano. It was also the first time that Pirfano had composed a piece like this: “It is very gratifying for me to have been able to contribute to the creation and direction of this hymn, which aims to capture a whole spirit, it is not only an institution but represents all the people behind it”, continues Íñigo.
El coro de Alegra, más vital que nunca
Las alumnas de Primaria y Secundaria unen sus voces para grabar juntas el himno del colegio “Ha sido muy emocionante ver cómo las más pequeñas miraban y se fijaban en las alumnas mayores”, apunta Alaine Vicencio, profesora de Música de Juniors. “Me ha llamado también la atención la profesionalidad que han mostrado para dar lo mejor de sí mismas. Notaban
que era un proyecto que tenía una gran repercusión”.
Contexto profesional
Ana Pérez-Muñoz, profesora de Música de Secundaria nos explica que uno de los enfoques del departamento de Música es tratar de poner en contacto a las alumnas en un contexto profesional, es decir, además de aprender y desarrollar sus habilidades musicales conocer el mundo profesional y cómo se traduce en el mundo real lo que trabajan y estudian en clase.
Durante la grabación, una de los aspectos más llamativos era ver cómo las alumnas guardaban un silencio total hasta que el director daba por válido cada parte “era muy impresionante antes y después de grabar hasta que nos relajábamos todas”, apunta Laura Ruiz-Jarabo, profesora de Música de Secundaria.
¡Enhorabuena al departamento de Música a Iñigo Pirfano y a las 54 alumnas del coro que no olvidarán que fueron ellas las primeras en grabar el himno de Alegra!
