We’ll always remember Christmas of 2020 as one of the most specials of our lives. This pandemic has made us rethink many of our routines: a simple family meal, celebrations, diners with friends, first communions, weddings, travels… The bright side? Now we appreciate the small details of everyday lives. We are able now to focus on the essential. And this Christmas –as the ones before– the essence of it is that Jesus is born
To prepare for Christmas at Alegra, we have had in mind, above all else, the sick and the people who have lost a loved one; those who have lost their job or that have found themselves starting over. Above all we have had in mind all the doctors and sanitary workers from all around the world, and of course the magnificent teachers that have demonstrated that they are true superheroes.

La Carta a los Reyes Magos
Alegra has asked the Wise Men, to all the people that are part of the school: kindness, the ability to always forgive, and tons of good humor!
The School has asked them for the needed donations to finish paying for the image of Our Lady of Alegra.

Christmas in MYP
The Christmas Painting
Due to covid19 restrictions, this year we haven’t been able to host the traditional “Auto Sacramental” in Santa María de Caná. However, the teachers and Helping Mothers have sharpened their genius and mastered creativity to come up with a master piece we can all enjoy.
Solidarity
This Christmas, more than ever, is an occasion to give thanks and to help others in need, in any ways we can imagine. At Alegra we are preparing Christmas, whilst thinking of those more vulnerable, especially children in need.
That is why from the first day of Advent all the school is championing different solidarity campaigns to help the less fortunate. It is not obligatory to participate in all of them, but it is good to make our children realize the value of serving others.
Prep School
- With the Madre Josefa (Residencia Mater Admirabilis, Pozuelo). The “Esclavas de la Virgen Dolorosa” has been working as a refugee for mothers and children. At Prep School we will support them by delivering materials to the children. The material we are collecting until the 14th of December is:
- Diapers (4-5-6)
- Wipes
- Milk
- Juice
- Bibs
- The Alegra APA is holding the traditional giveaway, to help the Family Fund. This year the presents are the best of the best:
- A trip to Holy Land
- 2 small statues of Our Lady Of Alegra
- 3 Nights in the Radisson in Canarias
- 2 Christmas Baskets
From the 30th of November, the students will receive an envelope with a bulk of tickets to sell among family and friends. The remaining tickets must be returned to the Class Teachers. The winning tickets will be announced the 11th of January.
MYP – DP
- With the Infans Project ( https://proyectoinfans.org/ ) “There is no need to go far away to know that near each of us there are babies and children that need help”. Infans is an organization that helps cover the first necessities of children from 0 to 6 years of age. The students of MYP1 and MYP 2 will be the leaders of this campaign. Products to donate:
Diapers, wipes, cremes, bibs, high chairs, cribs, playpen, pijamas…
– With Red Madre and the inniciative “Ningún Niño sin Reyes Magos”. This Project tends to all the letters to the Wise Men that children in vulnerable situations. How can we help?
