A Special Visit From The Mayor
The past 2nd of October Majadahonda’s Mayor visited Alegra’s Campus.
The Mayor visited the Infants, Juniors, and International School Buildings. Upon entry, he was welcomed with all the necessary precautions due to the COVID-19 situation, measures implemented by Alegra to keep the health and safety of the whole community: temperature check, antibacterial gel, social distance, and face mask at all times.
At the Library, inside the International School Building (MYP-PD), a student committee welcomed the Mayor, House Captains, and Subcaptains of the Houses System of Alegra: Elephants, Wolves, Horses y Lions.
The students had the opportunity to explain to the Mayor the meaning of the House System –a distinctive of any traditional British School–, and how since their first years in Alegra they have been allocated to a House. They also explain the election process of the House Captains: the campaign, the process of delivering a speech to the whole stage, the elections, and the responsibility of being the leaders of the rest of their schoolmates.
Each House at Alegra has a specific virtue, this promotes the spirit of improvement of that virtue, learning at the same time the value and power of the other Houses.
The students shared with the Mayor their wishes to serve others and explained to him that all the Alegra Houses champion for a special cause, and during the academic year they compete in solidarity through different projects of Alegra For Others. The students decided to offer the Mayor the possibility to be an Honorary Member of one of our Houses: the Wolves. The Mayor accepted the honor delighted to be from that day onwards part of the House that represents Loyalty.
