As in Infants, the Juniors Stage at Alegra is British, where we continue to deliver the English National Curriculum from Year 3 (7 years old) to Year 6 (11 years old). For the students of these ages, it is a system that encourages them to thrive in subjects like literature, writing and maths. At Alegra, our curriculum is designed to promote the spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development of all our students at the school. We prepare our students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of later life in a supportive and engaging environment with high standards in literacy and numeracy.
The English National Curriculum provides our students with an introduction to the essential knowledge that they need to be educated citizens. Based on the delivery of twelve key subject areas, the curriculum introduces our students to the best that has been thought and said; and helps engender an appreciation of human creativity and achievement. However, this is just one element in the education of every student at Alegra; there is time and space in the school day and in each week, term and year to range beyond the national curriculum specifications. We are educating the whole student – focussing in particular, on i students’ human, intellectual, cultural, spiritual and social potential.
On the basis of the British education system and methodology, and in order to meet the demands of quality and excellence the School strives for, we have incorporated a number of highly effective and prestigious programmes to enhance our British Curriculum:
Each and every student at Alegra is considered unique. Our Teachers use a range of differentiation strategies to allow for our students to develop at their own pace within the same class; they have the skills and abilities to adapt the t contents of each subject to the needs of each student. We offer a personalised education journey for each of our students; tailormade at a pace that allows each of them to enhance to progress, achieving their full potential and to flourish.
At Alegra, our Teachers are continuously assessing and monitoring our students both inside and outside of the classroom. Students are set personalised goals and targets which with the support of their Teachers, they are encouraged to develop both personally and in order to meet specific learning objectives.
We have a great team of teachers, most of whom are native speakers from English speaking countries. We also have excellent, British qualified bilingual Spanish teachers – making Alegra a rich, and multicultural environment.
